10 Ways to Burn Calories at the Beach
By admin on Jul 26, 2010 in Health and Fitness
Now that we are in the full swing of summer I thought I’d share with you some fun ways to burn calories outside of the gym when you’re at the beach.
Going to the beach is a great time for you to stay active instead of just lying down on your towel the majority of the time. Plus, getting up and moving will allow you to potentially work off any extra calories you ate at barbeques or parties that week.
Now let’s look at 10 ways to burn calories at the beach:
Frisbee – 225
Ultimate Frisbee – 600
Badminton – 337
Kayaking – 375
Snorkeling – 375
Swimming – 450
Touch Football – 600
Volleyball – 225
Water Skiing – 450
Walking – 247
*The corresponding number after the activity refers to the amount of calories burned in 60 minutes by a person weighting 165 pounds.
One point to keep in mind is that all of these activities refer to continual motion, so if you’re moving at a slower pace or stopping frequently just know that your total number of calories burned will be lower.
I hope the list gave you some motivation to burn off a few calories and stay a little more active while at the beach this summer!
