30 Second Short Bursts of Exercise Aids in Weight Loss

While doing some online research I came across a particularly interesting study that showed that the group’s participants were able to significantly improve their insulin levels and better metabolize glucose after just one short high intensity workout.
What I found even more interesting was that the participants only did 30 second sprints on an exercise bike in order to get this stimulus.
After I read this, I knew this information would help motivate anyone who still believes you need an hour a day of long distance cardio in order to improve your health and weight loss goals.
One of the leading researchers in this study, Professor James Timmons, summed it up perfectly when he reviewed the final data and stated, "People who can achieve health benefits with short bursts of high intensity activity may be more likely to stick with an exercise program and lead a healthier life. Short segments of exercise are easier to fit into a schedule and people can benefit from the feeling of accomplishment of keeping up their exercise commitment."
Now I’m not saying you can’t do endurance based cardio if that’s what you enjoy, but it is reassuring to know that even if you don’t have a lot of time you can use highly effective interval based training to boost your metabolism and lose weight.
