Easy Way to Get Your 10,000 Steps a Day

easy way to get your 10,000 steps per day thumb 130x103 67081 Easy Way to Get Your 10,000 Steps a DayYesterday, I spoke about how 10,000 steps was considered the gold standard for minimal exercise per day.

I also said these 10,000 steps equates to about 60-90 minutes of walking or about 5 miles total. One of the best ways to keep track of your steps is with a simple pedometer. You can purchase one at almost any sporting goods store or right online for just a couple of dollars. I prefer the digital ones that clip right onto your belt or pants. I’m also partial to the iPhone application called “Log Your Run” since it tracks speed, mileage, steps, and a lot more. Plus, many of the applications out there for your smart phone are only $1-$2 with unlimited updates.

Now as promised yesterday, here is the best way to get started on walking 60-90 minutes a day.  I’ve found that for beginners it is best to break it up into 2-3 bouts throughout the day. I suggest 20-30 minutes in the morning, 20-30 minutes at lunch, and walking the same amount of time after dinner.

This is an easy way to get your 10,000 steps in every day and ensure you are meeting the minimum physical activity requirement.
