“Give It 5″

Give it 5 thumb 200x150 63781 Give It 5Although consistency is the key to long term weight loss success there will be days when you just can’t find the motivation to get moving.

You may feel tired, over worked, stressed, or maybe you just don’t want to exercise that day… whatever the reason is you know you should be working out and you may just be looking for a little shot of motivation to get you going.

If that’s the case, I have a great remedy for you.

It’s called “giving it 5.” What that means is that you only have to commit to 5 minutes of exercise. That’s it. Since you can pretty much withstand anything for 5 minutes, it shouldn’t be too much of an issue to get yourself moving when the idea is that you only need to give it 5. However, if you haven’t figured it out already, your goal is to keep on going right past 5 minutes! Of course, if after 5 minutes you still feel tired and think you should take the day off, then by all means do so.

Typically, though, after you get your blood flowing and the endorphins get pumping you’ll want to keep exercising right through the 5 minute mark. Also, I find that the hardest part of working out is changing into your exercise clothes and committing to the next 30-60 minutes of exercise, so once that’s out of the way you’ll be well on your way to staying on track to achieving your weight loss goals.

So the next time you feel a little unmotivated, just “give it 5!”
