Hungry Planet Paints the Big Picture

Whenever I start to fall off the health food wagon, I reach for one particular book to help get me back on track. Surprisingly, it’s not a diet book or a motivational book. It is a gorgeous book entitled “Hungry Planet: What the World Eats.”
Why would a coffee-table book about worldwide eating habits help me get back on the health track? Because the book puts the global food supply in perspective, and reminds me how lucky we are to have easy access to affordable, healthful food (as well as affordable junk food) and such freedom is the very reason why we can make choices and design an optimal diet.
