My 20 Minute Workout
By admin on Jul 7, 2010 in Health and Fitness
After my last post on how I was able to sneak in two 20-minute workouts in over the holiday weekend I got a few reader questions on how I was able to do that.
This is what I typically do when I only have 20 minutes to fit in a workout. The first thing I do is assess my surroundings and see what I can use for equipment. Since I was staying at a hole in the wall hotel in Maine I only had a chair, bed, and towel in my hotel room for equipment (I didn’t bring my travel band or pull-up bar).
The second thing I do is choose 3-5 exercises that I can complete in a row in circuit fashion.
The third thing I do is plan my workout from those exercises. Each exercise is primarily body weight and is done until failure.
This is what my workout looked like:
Exercise #1: Push-ups with my feet elevated on bed
Exercise #2: Bulgarian Split Squats with one foot resting on the bed
Exercise #3: Plank with shoulder external rotation
Exercise #4: Dips using the chair
Exercise #5: Leg lifts lying on a towel
The last step is just completing the whole circuit 2-3 times while resting for 1-3 minutes between circuits.
Give this workout a try the next time you only have a few minutes to exercise while traveling!
