Non-Intimidating Women’s Workout Areas

non intimidating womens workout area thumb 124x82 79502 Non Intimidating Womens Workout AreasI know one of the reasons why many women won’t join a gym or use the free weight area in some health clubs is because they are intimidated to do so.

This is mainly due to the fact that more men than women use the free weight area and often times a few guys even grunt, yell, scream, and throw weights around as they bust out their sets. I’m not saying that this is either right or wrong, but rather, I’m just agreeing with you and saying I can understand why you’d prefer not to exercise next someone acting in that way.

Of course, not all gyms are like that and if you have been jaded by incidents or stories like the one I described above I urge you to give yourself another shot at finding an establishment you feel comfortable in. Be sure to go for a tour at the time when you are most likely to workout and that way you’ll get to see how crowded the gym is and what the people are like who belong there.

I’d also recommend calling ahead to see if they have a “women’s only” weight lifting area if you are still concerned about exercising in front of a lot of other people or men. These separate rooms within a facility still have the majority of the equipment you need and they are fairly empty for the most part. It may even feel like you have the whole place to yourself at times. Either way, in time you’ll build more confidence and realize that there’s nothing to be intimidated about since everyone is working towards the same goal of self-improvement.

For list of some gyms in your area you can check out the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association for details.
