Surviving 4th of July Weekend

Surviving 4th of July Weekend I think I can safely say that any holiday weekend can present some serious weight loss challenges when it comes to hanging out with family and friends. To me, it seems like celebrating is largely focused around eating and drinking since those two activities bring everyone together.

However, a holiday like the 4th of July is somewhat unique since it usually means barbeques and enjoying some warm weather outdoors. The way I was able to survive without consuming too many extra calories was by just eating some of the grilled lean meats and fish, as well as limiting my sides to vegetables and some fruit. I also managed to sneak in two 20-minute workouts over the three days to help balance out my additional food intake. Plus, when we were all hanging out at the beach I went for a run with my dog and a swim with some friends.

All in all I got to enjoy my holiday weekend, have a cheat meal or two, enjoy time with family and friends, and still stay active… and to me that's really what it's all about.
