Women’s Health and Beauty – Cleansing Tips

cleansing Women’s Health and Beauty – Cleansing Tips

Cleansing is one of the most important if not the most important part of skincare. We all have the urge to not bother and simply splash with water or skip completely but washing away the day’s grime is sure to put you on the path to beautiful skin.

However, it’s not as simple as buying a cleanser and away you go. The wrong cleanser can be as harmful as not cleansing at all. If the cleanser is too harsh it will strip away the skin’s natural barrier leaving the skin tight, taut and often stiff. This can be an indication of barrier damage and it can leave the skin sensitive to moisturiser applied after cleansing. So find a gentle cleanser that suits your skin and stick with it. It often means spending a little bit more than you normally do but it’s worth it in the end.

TOP TIP - Don’t buy a cleanser that contains alcohol. Alcohol is bad for your skin and will make it taut and tight. Even if you have oily skin don’t use alcohol based products.

Here are Fashionbeans’ favourite cleansers:

Philosophy’s Purity Made Simple one-step cleanser is easy to use. I wouldn’t normally recommend a multi tasking product but if cleansing and toning is your idea of hell then this is the perfect solution. Purity made simple is your cleanser and toner combined, saving on time and effort. Not only that it rapidly dissolves dirt, oil and makeup to deep clean pores while maintaining the skin’s proper moisture levels.

Purity made simple is gentle enough for the eye area and for sensitive skin. It can be wiped away with a damp cotton pad or better still wiped away with a muslin facial cloth.

Eve Lom Cleanser 200ml IMGEVCP2 Women’s Health and Beauty – Cleansing TipsEve Lom Cleanser

This award winning cleanser is craved after by many and considered to be a beauty hero. Vogue claim “it is possibly the best cleanser in the world”. It does seem pricey but only a small amount is needed and this 200 ml pot will last a couple of months. It is worth the expense and it’s a firm celebrity favourite.

Suitable for all skin types and used with a specially woven muslin cloth, the Cleanser removes even the most stubborn make-up while decongesting, exfoliating and toning the skin. Clove Oil’s antiseptic properties encourage clear skin, Eucalyptus Oil helps to drain away toxins, while the Hop Oil tones and the Egyptian Chamomile Oil and Cocoa Butter soften and condition the skin. The result is perfectly balanced skin and a radiant complexion.

If you are looking for an excellent cleanser on a budget then this is the one to go for. The Body Shop’s Vitamin E Cream Cleanser dissolves make-up and dirt effortlessly and is suitable for all skin types. I have used this personally for one month continuously and the comments I received were more than flattering. It contains Vitamin E which is a natural and very powerful antioxidant. Antioxidants help to protect the skin from pollution and the harmful free radicals caused by the environment.

Vitamin E is also an excellent moisturiser and helps to improve the smoothness of the skin. It also contains wheat germ oil to moisturise and nourish the skin and organic soya oil which is rich in essential fatty acids to help repair the skin’s moisture barrier.

Women’s Health and Beauty – Cleansing TipsLiz Earle Cleanse and Polish

This is my personal favourite. I try many different cleansers but I always go back to this and I feel completely miserable if I run out. As far as I am concerned Liz Earle should be crowned the beauty queen of the world just for this one skin transforming product never mind her other excellent products.

Cleanse and Polish is a gentle cleanser that has a wonderful smell of eucalyptus and chamomile, which wakes you in the morning but is still relaxing in the evening after a hard day’s grime. The chamomile helps to soothe the skin and reduce any redness. The rich cocoa butter base moisturisers the skin along with the beeswax and glycerin. The eucalyptus is refreshing, the hops is a natural astringent and the rosemary stimulates the skin whilst acting as a natural antioxidant. Personally, I don’t care what’s in it, it’s natural, ethical and it works.

When you have chosen the cleanser for you, apply your new cleanser with spotlessly clean hands. Smooth the cleanser over your face and neck working up the neck in a circular motion moving the fingertips up and across the neck and face. Using the pads of the fingers massage the skin well in an outwards circular motion but being careful around the eye area not to massage to firmly. The massaging will improve blood flow to the skin and in turn improve the texture and appearance of the skin so spend a bit of time massaging.

Allow the cleanser to react with the dirt and makeup in order for it to dissolve. If using a washcloth, which is necessary for Cleanse and Polish and Eve Lom and recommended for all cleansers, swish in warm water and wipe away the cleanser.

If you must skip cleansing then make it in the morning because you will have cleansed the night before but never go to bed with your makeup on, never use soap and never use alcohol.

HAPPY CLEANSING!
