baby back ribs, cole slaw, baked beans, corn bread, roasted corn and stewed tomatoes, chicken chunks, and sweet potato fries

I recently took and end-of-summer beach trip to Chincoteague, Virginia, and I can’t say enough good things about it (except for the mosquitoes – could have done without those). The food highlight of this trip was definitely Woody’s Beach Barbecue and Eatery, which features not one, but TWO menus full of southern food favorites: one for grilled and smoked meats, the other for seafood and (fried) chicken. More after the jump.

Everything is served from two permanently installed food trucks flanking a picnic area decorated in bright colors and Hawaiian shirts, which means that you can soak in the atmosphere there or easily bring your food to the nearby beach. The food was absolutely delicious! I usually avoid meat dishes involving the word “chunk,” but these chicken chunks were perfectly crispy white meat nuggets, and my boyfriend devoured his baby back ribs. Those the sweet potato fries tossed with brown butter, cinnamon, and honey also disappeared pretty quickly.
