herb plants in the kitchen

I bought herb plants (basil, thyme, oregano, sage and mint) for our kitchen a few months back at the farmer’s market and they have been serving us well. We always have fresh herbs on hand and the plants just brighten up our kitchen. Every once in a while they grow faster than we can use them and when that happens we make herbal tea!!!!

What herbs do you have on your windowsill or in your garden?

Hi Gwen,
I just cover the freshly picked herbs with boiling water. The picture above is a mix of basil, two types of mint, lemon and orange peel (without the pith). I let it sit for about 15 minutes or so and then fill the pitcher with ice!
It’s nice to make when your mint plants have a growth spurt.

Also in my kitchen. With the hot weather, don’t fair well outside. Thyme, Cuban Oregano, Mint, Sage, and basil. So far…

I seem to have problems keep herb plants ALIVE–I’d love to find some tips to help that problem out, because I love fresh basil!

Just curious, how do you make herbal tea with your leftovers? I’ve been adding herbs to fresh baked bread and to salads.
